Spring Planting 2013

Let the work begin!

I decided to take a week-long vacation from work this spring so that I could whip my yard into shape.  Last year, I spent every weekend in May planting flowers and spreading mulch, and on top of full work weeks, I was exhausted.  Therefore, I didn’t have a chance to really plant as many flowers as I would’ve liked.  This year, though… my yard makes me smile.
After countless trips to local nurseries, Lowe’s, and Home Depot, and 156 bags of mulch later…
Our yard.  And I love it.

I grew up helping my mom with her yard every spring, and so I truly love gardening and landscaping.  I’m admittedly not the best at it, but I try.  This year, I went a little nuts with flowers.
My first ever rose bush!
Red and yellow gerbera daises
I can’t remember what this is called, but it is SOFT.
Orange asiatic lillies
Pink asiatic lillies
Orange geraniums
Red geraniums
Dusty Miller
Snapdragons
Peonies
Maroon tulips
Purple and white calla lillies

Of course, I can’t forget our vegetable garden beds which, for the first time, have life!

As well as a few hanging planters and various pots for our backyard deck:

I had so much fun.  This is my favorite time of year!
