Garage Door Facelift

We are fortunate to have really nice garage doors, but I thought that they were a tad on the boring side.  They needed a little something to dress them up a bit.

As luck would have it, I found these decorative garage door hinges / handles kits at Home Depot, and knew that we had to give them a shot!  All that was needed to install the kits was a drill, drill bits, a level, a measuring tape, and a pen.
While I was working one day, Evan volunteered to install these kits for me.  He first placed one of the faux hinges against the door and marked where each hole was with a pen.

Then, he used a level to ensure that they were straight against the garage door.

Once everything was set, he drilled pilot holes into the garage door, and then affixed the hinges with screws.

He didn’t want the handles to be off center, so he measured where they should go first, and then marked it as such on the door.

Again, he double checked with a level to make sure that the hinges would be perfectly aligned as they sat side-by-side on each garage door.

Once everything was determined, he drilled pilot holes into the garage doors, then screwed each handle in place.

And there you have it!  A simple fix to give our garage doors more interest and boost our curb appeal.

I absolutely adore the garage doors now.  I smile every time I pull into our driveway.
